Lieutenant Colonel Aaron C. Norwood is the 2023-2024 US Marine Corps fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security.

Prior to his current role, Norwood was the commanding officer of Marine Wing Support Squadron 371, which provided aviation ground support to F-35B squadrons on the West Coast. Norwood received his commission from Marine Corps Officer Candidates School in 2004 and was assigned the military occupational specialty of logistician. He also holds the additional occupational specialties of weapons and tactics instructor and joint qualified officer. His previous assignments include executive officer, operations officer, and company commander. He has a multitude of overseas deployments, four of which were combat tours to Iraq.

Norwood received a Bachelor of Science in resource management from Troy State University in 2001 and a master of arts in business management from National University in 2003. His awards and decorations include a Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (second award), Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation medal (fifth award), Joint Achievement Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal (second award).
