Alexander Tripp is the associate director for the Atlantic Council’s Africa Center. His focuses include security, climate, trade, and Sino-African relations. Having joined the Council in 2022, highlights of his work include leading the Center’s activities around the US-Africa Leaders Summit, the UN Conference of the Parties, and the annual IMF-World Bank meetings, as well as the Center’s programming on the Democratic Republic of the Congo and sports diplomacy (including around the 2026 FIFA World Cup).
Tripp holds an LLM from Peking University and an MSc in international affairs from the London School of Economics. Tripp grew up abroad, living across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia. Having attended high school in Johannesburg, South Africa, he has a passion for the Springboks.
