Middle EastAlexander Werman is a participant in the 2024 Executive Leadership Intensive and is a political risk analyst focusing on the Middle East. He is currently a senior associate at the Cohen Group, a strategic advisory firm based in Washington, DC. Previously, Werman was an analyst at a global specialist risk consultancy in Dubai, where he led the company’s research on Israel, Jordan, and the Palestinian Territories, and was also a primary contributor to analysis on the Gulf states, Iraq, and Libya. Prior to that, Werman studied Arabic in Jordan while interning as an editor and contributor at local English-language newspaper the Jordan Times. Werman has a master of arts in security policy studies from George Washington University and a bachelor of business administration from Emory University. He studied Arabic at Qasid Arabic Institute and CET Academic Programs in Amman, Jordan. He has lived and traveled extensively throughout the Middle East.
