The geopolitics of Russia’s vaccine claim

President Vladimir Putin announced on August 11 that a coronavirus vaccine manufactured by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Moscow had been granted regulatory approval. The claim however has geopolitical ramifications.

Claire Branley joins the Atlantic Council Geotech Center after graduating from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Public Health and Global Health. She was a research assistant in the Moussavi-Harami Lab, uncovering gene therapies for inherited heart disease. She is also deeply passionate about the prevention of disease and has assisted several maternal and child health research projects and volunteered in farm-to-food pantry initiatives to decrease food insecurity in the Seattle area.
