Geoffrey Cain is a nonresident senior fellow at the GeoTech Center of the Atlantic Council and a technologist and author whose bestselling books cover the colliding worlds of technology and global geopolitics.

His recent book, The Perfect Police State, was cited for the 2021 Cornelius Ryan Award from the Overseas Press Club for best nonfiction book on international affairs. His first book, Samsung Rising, was longlisted for the 2020 FT McKinsey Business Book of the Year Award. A former correspondent at the Economist, he has covered technology, war, and business in China, North Korea, Ukraine, Turkey, and elsewhere. As a congressional innovation fellow, he served as a technology policy advisor on the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs. He regularly testifies before Congress and gives news commentary on emerging technological threats on CNN, Bloomberg TV, and NPR.

Cain holds an MA with distinction in Asian studies from the University of London and a BA from George Washington University.
