Ivo Walinga is a participant in the 2025 European Leadership Accelerator hosted by the Atlantic Council’s Millennium Leadership Program. He currently serves as China programme officer at the International Energy Agency in Paris, where he drives strategic engagement with China on the energy transition. Previously, he held diplomatic roles at the European Union and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe across Europe and Asia, focusing on energy, climate, and development. His work has included advising Central Asian governments on clean energy along the Silk Road, researching East Asia’s decarbonization in China and Korea for Asia House, and supporting sustainable resource use and mining in Mongolia with the European Union. A dedicated advocate for youth in the energy transition, Walinga has represented young voices at high-level platforms, including as an EU young energy ambassador and IRENA youth delegate in Abu Dhabi. He holds degrees from Oxford, Sciences Po, and Peking University, and is fluent in Chinese, Russian, and Spanish.
