Jacqueline Bern de Mena is an advisory council member at the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center. She is currently chief executive officer of Grupo Bern and chair of the board of directors of Cable & Wireless Panama, a subsidiary of Liberty Latin America. She serves on the board of directors of the Bern Foundation and is vice president of the brokerage firm Invertis Securities.

She is a co-founder of the women’s empowerment movement Mujer+Panamá, member of the board of directors of the electoral delegates of the Electoral Tribunal of Panama, and participates in organizations such as Asociación Directoras de Panamá Panamanian Association of Business Executives, and Cámara Panameña de la Construcción. She also serves on the board of directors of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Panama, where she has served as treasurer for over a decade.

Bern has been recognized in the book Those Who Inspire Panama for her work on the Gender Parity Initiative, by Forbes Centroamérica magazine as one of Central America’s most powerful women 2024, by the Federation of Women Journalists for extraordinary tourism management, and by the Ministry of Security of Panama and the Special Forces of the United States Southern Command for her leadership around women, peace, and security.

Academically, she holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Goizueta Business School and a bachelor’s degree in art history from Emory University. She holds a diploma in social responsibility management from the Technological University of Panama and a postgraduate degree in behavioral statistics from the London School of Economics. Additionally, she is certified by the International Finance Corporation as an independent member of boards of directors.
