Marcio Paes Barreto is a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center and has over thirty years of experience in various areas, including leadership education, business and industrial development, and public policy implementation. As the managing director of Evercore Energy, he is currently focused on creating distributed energy solutions that meet the increasing demand of low emissions industrial heat and power.

Recently, he was director of industrial development at the Wyoming Energy Authority, where he led efforts to create a nuclear energy strategic framework and a microreactor tech hub in Wyoming. Paes Barreto is also one of the founders of the Frontiers Project, where he continues to develop private-public partnerships to explore deployment pathways for nuclear microreactors, creating new opportunities in economic development and prosperity.
 
Paes Barreto is a leader in program management, economic development, and digital technologies. Before his work in the nongovernmental and governmental sectors, he held leadership positions at various technology companies. In these roles, he drove business growth, developed new services, and expanded their client base. Paes Barreto’s work has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades. He has a background in industrial engineering and enjoys hunting and fishing while exploring remote regions around the globe.
