Martin-Sebastian Abel is a participant in the 2025 European Leadership Accelerator hosted by the Atlantic Council’s Millennium Leadership Program. He is also the co-founder and managing director of TransitionPlan, an advisory firm helping businesses harness sustainability as a catalyst for growth and resilience. He served one term as a member of North Rhine-Westphalia’s state parliament, where he introduced Germany’s first environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria for public pension funds. With deep expertise in strategy, finance, and communication, he has advised organizations across Europe and North America on integrating ESG into core business models. He holds an MBA from WHU–Otto Beisheim School of Management and is pursuing executive education at Columbia Business School. A committed transatlanticist, he is an alumnus of the US State Department’s International Visitors Leadership Program. His work focuses on bridging public policy with private-sector innovation to help businesses stay ahead of evolving market dynamics—turning sustainability into a strategic advantage in an era of constant change.
