Nisha Narayanan is a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s GeoEconomics Center and is the head of country risk at State Street, a global financial institution. She has over fifteen years of experience in the financial services industry, specializing in anti-money laundering, sanctions, trade finance, and geopolitical and macroeconomic risks. Her expertise is in conducting extensive due diligence and both quantitative and qualitative assessments to identify and mitigate emerging risks globally across a broad range of complex products and services. Prior to working in the private sector, she consulted at the World Bank, where she became interested in sustainable development, while working on anticorruption and public sector governance issues. She started out her career in politics where she gained valuable media and field experience working on both state-wide and major presidential campaigns.

She is a member of the board of the India Development and Relief Fund, where she seeks to use her passion and commitment to the environmental, social, and governance framework to empower marginalized communities and developing markets with the tools they need to thrive. She received an MA in economics from George Mason University and a BA in international relations from William and Mary.
