Sarah Nielsen is a strategy and innovation professional and a US Army veteran. Her professional interests center around how to utilize innovation, strategy, and science to solve our 21st-century infrastructure and natural resource challenges. She is the executive director of demand side management at Consumers Energy, Michigan’s largest electric utility, and previously served as director of corporate strategy with the company. In her current role, Sarah helps lead a team focusing on utility programs for demand response, electric vehicles, renewables, and pricing.
Sarah previously worked as a management consultant at Innosight, a growth and innovation consulting firm, and served for seven years in the US Army as a medical services officer. Her military service sparked her interest in energy and infrastructure. She holds a BS in biology from the University of Dayton and an MBA and MS in environmental science from Yale University.
