CroatianStjepan Orešković is a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center. He is an academic, entrepreneur, investor, and institutional strategist focused on Europe’s competitiveness, scale-up ecosystems, and long-term capital formation. His work centers on developing evidence-based, testable frameworks that enable the creation, scaling, and retention of globally competitive European companies.
Orešković is the founder and majority shareholder of Bosqar Invest, which operates in the agri-food, e-commerce, HR services, and edtech sectors. He is also the founder of the Future 500–Champions of Growth initiative, developed in partnership with the Atlantic Council and IEDC–Bled School of Management.
Earlier in his career, Orešković founded and directed the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for HIV Strategic Information, where he trained more than 2,600 professionals across 110 countries. He has also contributed to research published in journals including The Lancet, The Lancet Global Health, The BMJ, and the Journal of Medical Internet Resarch, with a focus on data science, measurement, and artificial intelligence in health systems.
He is a tenured professor at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine and a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. He has held fellowships at Harvard Medical School and the Royal Society of Medicine, and he has lectured at the London School of Economics, Bocconi University, and the Sorbonne. His recognitions include the Pfizer Global Research Award, the Nikola Tesla Award, and the Order of the Croatian Star.
