On April 21, 2018, the New York Times published an article by Dr. Christopher Preble titled “Adapting to American Decline.” Preble outlines the ways in which America’s global presence and power is declining and argues that its citizens should brace themselves for the nation to play a smaller role on the world stage.
Instead, America should seek a new arrangement that asks the beneficiaries of today’s relatively peaceful and prosperous world order to make a meaningful contribution to maintaining it.
