WROCLAW, POLAND (May 31) – The Atlantic Council today recognized Mayor Rafal Dutkiewicz with lifetime honorary membership to the Washington, DC-based organization, a distinction reserved for those who have made significant contributions to the Council’s mission of renewing the transatlantic community for global challenges.

Atlantic Council President and CEO Frederick Kempe presented the honor to Mayor Dutkiewicz today during a reception at Wroclaw City Hall, marking the third annual Wroclaw Global Forum, which has been a cooperative venture between the city and the Atlantic Council.

“Mayor Dutkiewicz’s contributions range from laying the foundation for one of the most dynamic economic regions in Europe, to working closely with European and American investors, to hosting this week’s Forum and the Euro 2012 football matches,” said Kempe. “He understands that close transatlantic relations remain the global basis for a prosperous and democratic future.”

Convened in one of Central Europe’s most dynamic cultural and entrepreneurial hubs, the Wroclaw Global Forum brings together important decision-makers and business leaders from the United States and Europe to discuss Central Europe’s role as a critical partner in US efforts to promote political, security, and economic ties across the Atlantic.
