About our work

Strategically located at the center of the African continent and endowed with exceptional natural resources, including minerals such as cobalt and copper, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is critical to the future of the continent and the world. However, with security challenges in the eastern DRC and limited wealth generated for its people from its vast resources, it is clear that solutions driving peace and prosperity are needed.

Launched in 2022, the Africa Center’s project on the DRC seeks to advise on securing the governance and to raise awareness of the economic opportunities in the DRC. In partnership with Rawbank, the Africa Center analyzes the DRC’s business environment, the industrial potential of its critical minerals, and peace and security throughout the country.

As part of its work on the DRC, the Africa Center hosted its inaugural “DRC Day,” which convenes leading officials, finance and development ministers, business executives, and institutional investors to highlight opportunities for investment and strengthened governance. The Africa Center has had the honor of hosting key figures including DRC Minister of Finance, Doudou Fwamba Likunde, Minister of Hydraulic Resources & Electricity Teddy Lwamba Muba, and Minister of Budget Aimé Boji Sangara.
