At our inaugural Forum in 2017, we evaluated the impact of US elections for global climate and energy policies, transformative energy market trends in a geopolitical context, and breakthrough energy technologies. In 2018, delegates discussed the geopolitics of the energy transformation, the electrification of everything, and financing and governance mechanisms for the future energy mix. In 2019, our focuses included the future of oil, digitization of energy, and diversification within energy companies and countries. In 2020, we once again chosen three key trends shaping the global energy system: the role of oil and gas in the energy transition, financing the future of energy, and interconnections in a new era of geopolitics. Our 2021 forum will have a special focus on the post-pandemic energy system, emerging net-zero carbon goals, and the US’s energy priorities following the presidential election.
