Why the Atlantic Council?

Driven by our mission of “working together to secure the future,” the Atlantic Council is a nonpartisan organization that galvanizes US leadership and engagement in the world, in partnership with allies and partners, to shape solutions to global challenges.

We generate ideas, foster debates, and leverage innovative approaches to develop practical solutions for today’s most pressing issues.

We build consensus, mobilize durable coalitions, and transform ideas into action. Based in Washington, DC, we operate around the world.

What does that mean? We write papers, host roundtables, produce reports, and analyze the world around us.

We move policy, craft tools to collect evidence and engage with key stakeholders on today’s most pressing issues, in Washington, DC and around the world.

“The Atlantic Council is a special place, and the Atlantic Council does special work that is increasingly important to all of our security.”

LTG H.R. McMaster, USA (Ret.) in his valedictory speech at the Atlantic Council, hosted by the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security’s Transatlantic Security Initiative on April 3, 2018.
