Ukraine and the world are still reeling from last week’s downing of Flight MH17. The despicable act may prove to be a tipping point in the crisis as it has further exposed Russia’s role in the destabilization of Ukraine and has sparked international outrage.
Join the Atlantic Council as we discuss the current crisis with Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Pavlo Klimkin who will be in Washington for emergency consultations with Secretary Kerry and Capitol Hill. Minister Klimkin will offer his perspective on recent developments and how to further strengthen the transatlantic response to support Ukraine and deter further aggression.
Pavlo Klimkin was appointed Ukraine’s Foreign Minister in June 2014. He has previously served as Ukraine’s ambassador Germany (2012-2014), director of the Foreign Ministry’s European Union department (2008-2010), as well as deputy foreign minister (2010-2012) during which time he played a key role in negotiating the association and free trade agreements with the European Union.
