A Private Lunch Discussion with US Ambassador to Portugal Allan J. Katz

On April 18, 2012 the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Relations Program hosted the US Ambassador to Portugal, Allan J. Katz, for an off-the-record discussion on the Eurozone crisis, its impact on Portugal, and more broadly, its effect on the political will for an expanded and more integrated Europe.

Ambassador Katz has been the United States’ Ambassador to Portugal since 2010. A lawyer by profession, he has been active in local and national government and politics for many years. Prior to entering private legal practice, Ambassador Katz was assistant insurance commissioner and general counsel for the State of Florida Insurance Department. In Washington, DC, he served as General Counsel of the US House of Representatives Commission on Administrative Review. In the private sector, he practiced law at the firm of Akerman Senterfitt in Tallahassee, and as a managing partner of Katz, Kutter, Alderman & Bryant, PA, also in Tallahassee.
