On February 3, the Atlantic Council hosted an off-the-record strategy session with Executive Director of the White House Arctic Executive Steering Committee Ambassador Mark Brzezinski on “Shaping the US Arctic Agenda.”
The event gathered a select group of Council experts and Board Directors to provide insights and expertise to help form the US approach to the rapidly-changing Arctic region. Ambassador Brzezinski presented the many challenges and opportunities facing policymakers in the region, ranging from climate change and science to commerce, transportation, and security. In his current capacity, Ambassador Brzezinski is responsible for providing guidance and coordination across all government agencies under the US National Strategy for the Arctic Region. This session was a continuation of the Council’s focus on Arctic issues, and, in particular, the High North.
