Canada has played a role in rallying and maintaining Western support for Ukraine, while also confronting and condemning Russia for its brutal ongoing war of aggression. Since February, the Canadian government has committed or delivered $626 million in military aid, transported over 3.5 million pounds of military donations to Europe, and worked to resettle Ukrainian refugees in Canada.
What role does Canada play in continuing to aid Ukraine and maintaining Western pressure on Russia? What future challenges and opportunities does Ottawa see for Ukraine after its stunning counteroffensive against the Russian military? How will Ottawa help Ukraine survive a cold winter as Moscow continues to strike vulnerable civilians and infrastructure?
To discuss these pressing questions, Her Excellency Mélanie Joly joins the Atlantic Council for a discussion on Canada’s solidarity with Ukraine in the face of Russia’s enduring and unprovoked aggression and how to further support the nation as it fights for its freedom and works to rebuild.
