On Wednesday, September 17, at 9:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center, in partnership with Florida International University, will host a conversation on how trends unfolding in the Middle East impact Latin America.
The complexity of the security situation in the Middle East has far reaching consequences across the globe, and Latin America and the Caribbean are not exempt from this reality. From the presence of proxy groups to an increasing demand for alternate sources of oil, Latin America and the Caribbean are dealing with second- and third-order effects of a region halfway across the world.
At this event, regional experts will examine the impacts on Latin America and the Caribbean that may be overlooked in a dynamic and complex age of global security.
This event is a collaboration of the Atlantic Council, the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy and the Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs, through its Kimberly Green Latin American & Caribbean Center, Mohsin & Fauzia Jaffer Center for Muslim World Studies, Dorothea Green Lecture Series, and Ruth K. & Shepard Broad Distinguished Lecture Series.
New policy: In-person attendees will be required to show photo ID upon arrival, and no on-site registration will be permitted. Guests will not be admitted later than twenty minutes after the event’s start time. Registration for this event will close at 5:00 p.m. ET the day prior.
