Please join the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center and Europe Center on February 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. for a private roundtable with Daniel Calleja, Director-General of the Legal Service at the European Commission, for a strategic discussion on key European priorities and challenges for 2024.

The upcoming year is poised to play a foundational role in the transition of global geopolitics. Already in 2023, the European Union has engaged in formative policy making activities, including budget renewal and EU enlargement, that have highlighted the Commission’s political priorities. This year will be critical to ensuring continuity in the European institutional set-up. Director-General Calleja will share how the European Commission is approaching issues such as digital and green transition, European budgetary strategy, rule of law, support for Ukraine, and the EU Enlargement Package. This roundtable will feature discussion of the EU’s budgetary process, the European 2040 climate target, and the buildout of transatlantic strategic agenda following the European Parliamentary elections this coming June.
