On September 16, 2021, the Atlantic Council IN TURKEY hosted a roundtable featuring Turkey’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sedat Önal to discuss regional dynamics and Turkey’s foreign policy in the Middle East and South Asia, especially focusing on the latest developments in Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq. Atlantic Council President and CEO Frederick Kempe delivered introductory remarks for the discussion which was moderated by Atlantic Council IN TURKEY Senior Director Defne Arslan.

The roundtable was hosted on the occasion of a visit to Washington, D.C. by Deputy Minister Onal and a delegation of Director Generals from the Turkish Foreign Ministry ahead of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The Atlantic Council in Turkey aims to promote dialogue and strengthen transatlantic engagement with the region through research, programming and high-level discussion forums to address critical issues around energy, economics, business, and security.
