Brian Walsh

Brian W. Walsh is a nonresident senior fellow with the GeoStrategy Initiative at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. He is head of public policy for Quartermaster AI, a defense technology company focused on maritime domain awareness. He was previously strategic priorities leader for the national security division of Amazon Web Services. 

Walsh spent twenty-four years in government and is a former special assistant to the president and senior director for intelligence at the National Security Council (NSC). In this role, he was responsible for advising the president and national security advisor on the government’s most sensitive intelligence programs. Before joining the NSC, Walsh served as staff director for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) under then vice chairman Senator Marco Rubio. Prior to becoming staff director, Walsh served as an SSCI professional staff member focused on oversight of intelligence community programs in the Western Hemisphere and East Asia. Walsh began his career on Capitol Hill in September 2001 and has served in various national security policy roles in the House of Representatives and Senate serving under members of the House Appropriations, Senate Armed Services, Senate Foreign Relations, and Senate Intelligence committees.   

Walsh holds a BA in history from the College of the Holy Cross. He is a native of Marion, Massachusetts.
