2025 Freedom and Prosperity Indexes: How political freedom drives growth

How Zimbabwe can achieve its vision of prosperity

Nina Dannaoui-Johnson is the Deputy Director at the Atlantic Council’s Freedom and Prosperity Center, where she leads initiatives to strengthen rule of law, promote inclusive economic growth, and support women’s participation in the economy. She co-authors flagship research, including the Freedom and Prosperity Indexes, using data to guide policy decisions.

A lawyer with broad international development and compliance experience, she has worked with governments and financial institutions to improve legal and regulatory frameworks, enhance financial governance, and align practices with international standards. Previously, she served as a Director at K2 Integrity, advising on compliance and financial integrity, and as a Financial Sector Specialist at the World Bank, supporting reforms to promote good governance, financial inclusion, and transparency.

She holds an LL.M. in International Law from Georgetown University and a law degree from the Holy Spirit University in Lebanon, and is a member of the New York and Lebanese Bar Associations.
