“Chinese interests in Africa and their approach is diverse and deep. They don’t view the continent as a blob, they’ve expanded new diplomatic facilities and they seemed to understand that while Africans can’t be bought in and can only be rented, the Chinese are in it for the long haul,” Culver says.
