Anna Wieslander, Northern Europe director at the Atlantic Council, said warnings of a Russian invasion are probably part of a deliberate US strategy. “They have used intelligence data strategically and they have chosen to be very open with what they have in order show Russia, ‘we see what you’re doing.’ But also to disrupt any planning,” she told Sweden’s Expressen daily newspaper.

Russia’s demands that NATO should not expand any further, or face the consequences, has raised concerns over the security of the two Nordic non-NATO members Sweden and Finland. “This is very troublesome for Sweden… and it is not the first time Russia has done this,” Wieslander said.
