Mission
The Atlantic Council GeoTech Center has a mission to shape the future of technology and data to advance society.
Vision and Purpose
Technological advances are transforming lives across the globe—and the accelerating pace at which emerging technologies are being developed and deployed can lead to unanticipated outcomes.
The GeoTech Center is working to identify and communicate what is required so that emerging technologies can enter use widely across the globe for public benefit, while identifying and mitigating potential societal and geopolitical risks. The Center thereby serves as an essential bridge between technologists and national as well as international policymakers, bringing together subject matter experts, thought leaders, and decision-makers through purposeful convenings to consider the broader societal, economic, and geopolitical implications of new and emerging technologies; leverage technology to solve global challenges; and develop actionable tech policy, partnerships, and programs.
The Atlantic Council GeoTech Center seeks to provide policymakers and technologists with diverse stakeholder perspectives on “tech for good” and pragmatic approaches to the geopolitics of technological change.
Pillars of Work

The Atlantic Council Technology Programs comprises five existing efforts—the Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab), the GeoTech Center, the Cyber Statecraft Initiative, the Democracy + Tech Initiative, and the Capacity Building Initiative. These operations work together to address the geopolitical implications of technology and provide policymakers and global stakeholders necessary research, insights, and convenings to address challenges around global technology and ensure its responsible advancement.
