As the global community continues to grapple with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Atlantic Council is open for business. Our business, meetings, and events, however, are occurring virtually. For more information, please read an update from our President and CEO.

Please join the Atlantic Council’s Iraq Initiative on Friday, October 30 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm EDT for a conversation evaluating the long-awaited “White Paper” the government of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi has recently issued to address Iraq’s economic woes. The discussion will feature Asmaa Yaseen, economics modeling and forecasting analyst at the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Alia Moubayed, managing director at Jefferies International, Ahmed Tabaqchali, chief information officer at Asia Frontier Capital, and Harry Istepanian, senior fellow at the Iraq Energy Institute, and moderated by Abbas Kadhim, director of the Iraq Initiative at the Atlantic Council.

The Iraqi government’s 95-page White Paper was formally approved by Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi’s cabinet on October 13. With more than 200 actionable reform measures, the document offers an ambitious three-year plan for how Iraq’s financial predicament can be reversed.

A Zoom link will be sent to those who register. The event is open to press and on the record.
