On Thursday, October 2 at 10:00 a.m. ET the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center will host a fireside conversation with Jérémie Gallon on Europe’s geopolitical role nearly a year into US President Donald Trump’s second term.
With Washington’s threats of sweeping tariffs, repeated demands for higher NATO defense spending, and transactional US posture on Ukraine, many European capitals are recalibrating their approach to the transatlantic relationship and their position on the world stage.
At this event, Gallon will discuss what to expect for the transatlantic relationship during the rest of Trump’s term, drawing themes from his new book Henry Kissinger: An Intimate Portrait of the Master of Realpolitik. Gallon will also explore how global order, power, and balance evolve when alliances shift and how Kissinger’s life carries many lessons for Europe.
