On Friday, June 20 at 4:00 p.m. ET, the Atlantic Council will host a conversation with Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard.
In just a few days, NATO allies will gather for the 2025 NATO Summit in The Hague, which could secure new commitments on increased defense spending and industrial production. However, concerns about the future of US leadership in the Alliance alongside Russia’s intensifying invasion of Ukraine have prompted European allies to look for ways to enhance their security without Washington. How can the transatlantic alliance adapt to the current geopolitical environment and ensure its long-term relevance?
Within this context, Sweden has taken important strides to fortify collective defense and enhance resilience. Stenergard joins the Atlantic Council to discuss these efforts and Sweden’s objectives heading into the NATO Summit.
This discussion will be streamed live on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. To participate, please register using the link above.
