An expert discussion on how Europe is reacting to events in 2026 and approaching its geopolitical ambitions in a changing international landscape.

On Monday, March 23 at 11:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center explores Europe’s evolving geopolitical ambitions and their implications for the transatlantic relationship in 2026.

This has been a tumultuous year for Europe. Russia’s war in Ukraine and the conflict in Iran continue to challenge Europe’s security and economic footing. Tensions over these issues and more, including trade relations and Greenland, have continued to test the transatlantic relationship. These developments have intensified discussions about Europe’s ability to act as a capable geopolitical actor.

Following the meeting of the European Council on March 19-20, this event convenes Atlantic Council experts to examine how Europe is navigating the current conflicts and geopolitical shifts, and what these efforts mean for the future of relations between Europe and the US.
