On Thursday, July 31 at 11:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center and GeoEconomics Center will host an expert discussion to debrief the preliminary trade deal struck on Sunday between the United States and the European Union (EU).

Many welcome the prospect of certainty that a new trade deal brings after “tough” negotiations and Washington’s threats of a 30 percent baseline tariff, in addition to the existing tariffs on steel, aluminum, and cars. But many questions remain unanswered about details of the deal, including the new EU investments in the United States and further tariff measures on pharmaceuticals and other sectors.

At this event, experts will debrief the new agreement, and discuss the latest outcomes included so far and what the deal means for the future of the transatlantic relationship.

This event is a continuation of the Transatlantic Economic Dialogues, a series of discussions to promote transatlantic economic cooperation, understand the shifts in philosophies in Washington and across Europe, and inspire collaborative approaches for a new paradigm of geopolitics and geoeconomics.

This conversation will take place virtually on ACTV, YouTube, X, and Facebook. To attend virtually, please register above.
