Captain Chels Michta is a 2023 Millennium fellow and a US Army officer currently serving with the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade. As officer in charge at the Army Europe Open Source Center, Michta supervises a team of open-source intelligence analysts, harnessing language capabilities and discovery and collection tools to provide senior army leaders in the European theater with near-real-time information critical to decision making. 

A graduate of Amherst College, Michta earned her MPhil and PhD from the University of Cambridge, where she was a Cambridge Trust scholar. A nonresident fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis, she writes regularly on European security and defense.
