Diana Myers

Captain Diana Myers is a nonresident fellow with the Indo-Pacific Security Initiative of the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. Myers is a strategic analyst in the US Air Force. A native Korean speaker, she has worked on defense policy, strategic investments, and alliance issues across the Indo-Pacific for over a decade.
Her current research examines nuclear weapons redeployment to South Korea, artificial intelligence (AI) in military wargaming, and AI applications in defense technology. Her expertise covers Chinese and North Korean security, nuclear deterrence, and strategic competition in the Indo-Pacific.
Myers previously served as the chief intelligence strategist for strategic competition and the intelligence analysis division chief for the Seventh Air Force at US Forces Korea. She has held fellowships at the RAND Corporation, the Council on Strategic Risks, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s Center for Global Security Research.
Myers holds a PhD in policy analysis from the RAND School for Public Policy, where her dissertation, “North Korea’s Military Threat towards China,” earned the 2024 Richard E. Sherwood Award for excellence in foreign affairs. She received her commission from the US Air Force Academy. Her work has appeared in the North Korea Review and the National Interest, as well as the websites of the Korea Economic Institute, the Asan Institute, and the German Marshall Fund.
