Health attaches are the missing link in global diplomacy

Given the globalized nature of the modern world, with frequent travel and people living outside their home countries for extended periods for a variety of reasons, standardizing a healthcare liaison from one’s home government would be a crucial step in internationalizing public health diplomacy.
Dr. Edmond Fernandes is a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s South Asia Center. He is a community health physician leading efforts for CHD Group which is a public health organization, headquartered in Mangalore, India. He is a US State Department alumni and member – Health Task Force, DDMA, Government of Karnataka. He actively writes for the Times of India and other national dailies, has authored 2 books and travels around the world for engagements related to global health, policy, and humanitarian emergencies.
