GeoTech – Data Salon Series

The Data Salon Series, jointly hosted by the GeoTech Center and Accenture, provides an interactive discussion about data ethics. Roundtable discussions focus on issues such as what does data represent legally and morally, what responsibilities do data providers have, and what responsibilities to privacy and transparency do data stewards share. The discussions are led by guest speakers, including scholars, civil society leaders, private sector executives, public servants, and data practitioners.

Each Data Salon focuses on a particular theme, and previous installments have discussed notice and consent practices, the history of privacy and contemporary changes to it, data science and social entrepreneurship, coordinating privacy and the public interest, indigenous data sovereignty, and digital identity in a post-COVID world. The Atlantic Council GeoTech Center encourages global tech collaborations, evaluates good tech choices as well as measurable policy alternatives, and educates world leaders and the public on issues related to global tech competition.
