In recent years, battered by a migration crisis and beset with economic difficulties, Italy saw the success of far left and far right movements. Despite these challenges, Italy remains a critical member of the transatlantic community and its resilience will be vital to a cohesive strategy toward Europe’s Southern neighborhood.

As the global community ramps up efforts to counter the rapid spread of the coronavirus, the United States and its allies and partners are taking extraordinary steps to mitigate the impacts of the pandemic.
