Please join the Atlantic Council’s Councilors Program and the Scowcroft Middle East Security Initiative on March 10, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. ET for a conversation with Shabtai Shavit, former director of Israel’s Mossad and chairman of the board at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism of the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya.
The discussion will focus on Director Shavit’s new book, “Head of the Mossad: In Pursuit of a Safe and Secure Israel,” and a host of regional issues, including the recently signed Abraham Accords.
Suzanne Kianpour, foreign affairs & political journalist for the BBC Washington DC will provide opening remarks. After introductory remarks by Ambassador R. James Woolsey, Jr., former director of the CIA, Director Shavit will join a panel discussion with William Rich, senior vice president at Kharon and former US Treasury Attaché to the United Arab Emirates and Oman; Anna Schecter, senior producer in the investigative unit at NBC News; Hagar Hajjar Chemali, CEO of Greenwich Media Strategies; Helima Croft, managing director and the global head of commodity strategy at RBC Capital Markets; and William Wechsler, director of the Atlantic Council’s Rafik Hariri Center and Middle East Programs. The conversation will be moderated by Michael Greenwald, director at Tiedemann Advisors, senior Advisor to the President and CEO of the Atlantic Council, and former attaché to Qatar and Kuwait at the US Department of Treasury. Suzanne Kianpour, foreign affairs & political journalist for the BBC Washington DC will provide closing remarks.
