Yi Zhou is a visiting fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Freedom and Prosperity Center. He is currently a graduate student in the Department of Government at Georgetown University, where he studies democratic backsliding and party politics, with regional focuses on Europe and East Asia. His most recent research explores the role of cross-cutting cleavages in ethnically divided societies.

Prior to his time at Georgetown, Zhou interned at the Institute of Euro-Asian Culture, where he worked on international legal advice, conference organization, and academic writing. Originally from China, he earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology at Shanghai University.
