WASHINGTON, DC- The Atlantic Council announced today the launch and inaugural members of its nomination-only Councilors Program, an initiative aimed at convening a results-oriented group of private sector leaders dedicated to more actively exploring and acting on issues at the intersection of business, foreign policy, and politics that will shape the global future.  

"This new program is aimed at galvanizing the capabilities and dedication of unique individuals in the private sector who wish to be more deeply involved in shaping the future," said Frederick Kempe, President and CEO of the Atlantic Council.  "This program will bring together individuals who understand that the most crucial challenges we face, ranging from environmental threats to the manifold matters of national security and geo-economics, will require more intensive public-private engagement."

Washington, DC – Atlantic Council President and CEO Frederick Kempe today issued the following statement on the appointment of Christopher Porter, Atlantic Council Senior Fellow and Chief Technology Officer for Global Cybersecurity Policy at FireEye, to the position of National Intelligence Officer for Cyber in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

On August 6, the Atlantic Council Iraq Initiative hosted Iraqi Council of Representatives Member Sarkawt Shamsulddin for a public event. In 2018, Shamsulddin became the youngest member of the Iraqi parliament, securing the top position of the New Generation Movement in Sulaymaniyah Province. He is now one of the leaders of The Future parliamentary bloc and a member of the Iraqi-American Friendship Committee. The discussion topics included how Iraq views the tensions between the United States and Iran, how the new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet is re-setting relations with Baghdad, and what can be done to promote reforms, counter corruption, and build bridges between civil society organizations in Baghdad in Erbil. Iraq Initiative Director Abbas Kadhim moderated the conversation. 

 

CHICAGO, IL – The Atlantic Council Global Energy Center will host its inaugural Veterans Advanced Energy Summit on Tuesday, August 13 in Chicago, Illinois. The Summit will feature cutting-edge presentations and conversations at the intersection of advanced energy and national security. 

The Summit will feature business and military leaders, policymakers, and others with insight into where energy markets and energy technologies are heading, and how clean energy development impacts the economic competitiveness and national security of the United States.
