Maia Nikoladze is an Associate Director at the Atlantic Council’s Economic Statecraft Initiative within the GeoEconomics Center. In this role, she publishes widely read articles on sanctions and export controls, maps evasion networks across Eurasia, and analyzes economic and financial linkages among sanctioned regimes.

Nikoladze’s commentary is regularly featured by prominent media outlets such as BBC, NPR, Financial Times, Business Insider, The Washington Post, Foreign Policy, and Politico, among others. Nikoladze’s publications have directly informed policymakers in Washington and beyond. They have been cited by the European Parliament, the US Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, and a Congressional letter to the President of the United States.

Nikoladze has previously worked at Georgetown University’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology and the Permanent Mission of Georgia to the United Nations. 

Nikoladze holds a Master’s Degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Eurasian Studies and International Business Diplomacy. She graduated summa cum laude from Clark University with double highest honors in Political Science and Economics and became an Outstanding Student of Social Sciences in 2019.
