On February 2, 2022, Pepe Zhang was quoted in a Bloomberg Línea article, “Llegó Alberto Fernández a Moscú: ¿Qué se puede esperar de la gira a Rusia y China?” (“Alberto Fernandez arrived in Moscow: What can be expected from the visit to Russia and China?”)
Quoted in Spanish, Zhang’s remarks translate as follows: “Argentina’s incorporation into the BRI helps China expand its trade partners and is also interesting from a domestic economic point of view,” he noted. Nonetheless, Zhang “remained skeptical that significant changes to bilateral relations would appear in the short term”.
